Stewardship Protocol

Truth Watch has established the following Stewardship Protocol for Church Leaders.

Those who lead, have an enormous responsibility in carefully and faithfully governing the finances given to them, for the purpose of extending and equipping the Church of Jesus Christ.

Please consider the following recommendations:
  • Before offerings are taken at any special Christian event, announce where the money is to go. Christians have the right to determine if God wants them to put their money towards a stated purpose.
  • Any conflict of interest between the donor and the recipient of any money should be openly acknowledged. Those involved should distance themselves from any decisions made concerning the money.
  • Do not devote Christian resources to secular businesses unless the money is earmarked to help the poor and needy.
  • Trustees should be appointed to administer disbursement of the money, according to the stated purpose.
  • Money raised by any means should go into and through the church's own trust account.
  • Accounts should be kept and audited by a qualified and independent accountant and made available for independent inspection.
  • Money raised should be devoted principally to activities and ministries that serve the poor and/or spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
